COVID-19 Rapid Testing in Schools Program

To protect our school communities, K-12 public schools can now get COVID-19 tests through the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) at no cost to parents, staff, or the district. School districts must choose to opt-in to the COVID-19 Rapid Testing in Schools Program.

While getting everyone 12 and older vaccinated is the best way to keep people out of the hospital, save lives, and end the pandemic, students under 12 cannot yet be vaccinated. Therefore, on-site COVID-19 rapid testing is an effective tool to protect our students. On-site rapid testing helps detect the virus early and take quick action to keep it from spreading in our schools.

Check to see if your school has signed up to participate in the COVID-19 Rapid Testing in Schools Program. For more information about your school’s specific program, please reach out to your school district office.

For general information about the COVID-19 Rapid Testing in Schools Program, please read the parent FAQs.
